India’s LMEL sees 22% rise in DRI output in April-December

India’s Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL) has reported production of 238,000 mt of direct reduction iron (DRI) in the first nine months (April-December) of the fiscal year 2024-25, up 22 percent year on year, according to a company statement on Friday, January 3.

The company achieved iron ore output of 8.6 million mt in the given period, a rise of five percent year on year. It said that its DRI plant operated at 100 percent capacity utilisation in December. LMEL is a major iron ore miner in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.
