India’s HEG Ltd, a large graphite electrode manufacturing company, has received board approval to increase annual capacity from 80,000 mt annually to 100,000 mt annually, up 25 percent. The expansion is expected to begin Q1 2019.

HEG competes with Graphite India, Showa Denko, Tokai Carbon, and GrafTech in the graphite electrode market, which is expected to continue on high demand as China moves toward more EAFs as part of its environmental improvement policies.
