India’s crude steel production during first quarter (April-June) of the financial year 2018-2019, was recorded at 26 million mt, up six percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, according to data released by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) under India's Ministry of Steel, the sole official compiler of industry data.
The large Indian steel companies - Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), JSW Limited, Tata Steel, Essar Steel and Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) - accounted for 15.6 million mt of crude steel of the total production in the country in the given period and these steel mills combined recorded a production growth of 12 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, the JPC data said.
