German steel prices up 22.8 percent in June

As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in June this year prices of metals in Germany were higher by 17.2 percent as compared to the same month last year and were up 0.3 percent as compared to May 2010, while rolled steel prices climbed by 22.8 percent year on year and were up 0.7 percent as compared to May this year.
 
Destatis also noted that the cost of steel pipes and pipe fittings in Germany in the month in question declined by 0.4 percent year on year but was up 2.5 percent month on month.
