In August this year, Germany's crude steel output increased by 0.8 percent year on year to 3.27 million metric tons, after declining for eight consecutive months, thereby showing the first signs of stabilization, though at a very low level, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In the January-August period, crude steel production in Germany declined by 4.4 percent year on year to 27.2 million mt.
Germany's pig iron output in August amounted to 2.137 million mt, up 2.6 percent, while in the first eight months the country's pig iron output decreased by 3.6 percent to 17.64 million mt, both year on year.
The country's hot rolled steel output fell two percent to 2.74 million mt in August, while decreasing by five percent to 23.56 million mt in the first eight months, both compared to the respective periods of the previous year.
