According to China Metallurgical Group (MCC), on March 30 the hot commissioning of the continuous slab caster No. 2 of Fujian Province-based Chinese steelmaker Fujian Sangang (Group) Co. (formerly Sansteel MinGuang Co.) was successfully carried out by MCC Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited.

Fujian Sangang is carrying out an upgrading project for its steel plate mill, which will increase annual plate output capacity from 1 million mt to 1.5 million mt. While the steelmaker's current slab output is 1 million mt, the increased plate production will push its annual consumption of slab up to 1.648 million mt. The continuous slab caster No. 2 will meet Fujian Sangang's additional demand for slab.
