According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in 2010 France's basic steel product and ferroalloy exports amounted to a value of €9.51 billion, increasing by 24.63 percent year on year. However, France's steel exports value in 2010 remained 20.93 percent below 2008 levels.
In 2010, steel and ferroalloys ranked seventh among the most exported products of the country.
In 210, France exported €1.86 billion of steel pipes and tubes - down 3.74 percent, €327.2 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 56.15 percent, €487.39 million of cold rolled steel strip - up 12.55 percent, €325.16 million of cold drawn wire - up 41.13 percent, €796.35 million of metal structures and parts - up 12.1 percent, all compared to 2009.
Meanwhile, in the year in question France's basic steel product and ferroalloy imports totaled €8.91 billion, up 30.49 percent year on year.
During the given period, France imported €1.55 billion of steel pipes and tubes - up 22.32 percent, €372.33 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 54.48 percent, €562.42 million of cold rolled steel strip - up 28.27 percent, €370.37 million of cold drawn wire - up 20.33 percent, and €1.3 billion of metal structures and parts - up 16.5 percent, all compared to 2009.
