Finished steel output of Ukrainian mill Ilyich rises 18.4 percent in 2011

In 2011, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol, a subsidiary of Ukraine's largest vertically-integrated mining and steel group Metinvest, saw a 8.6 percent year-on-year increase in its crude steel production to 6.136 million mt and an 18.4 percent increase in its finished steel production to 4.710 million mt.

In the given period, Ilyich produced 5.177 million mt of pig iron and 11.983 million mt of agglomerate - up 9.5 percent and 7.4 percent respectively compared to 2010. In December alone, the company produced 350,000 mt of finished steel, 456,000 mt of steel, 425,000 mt of pig iron and 1.005 million mt of agglomerate.
