Annual inflation in the euro area was 1.3 percent in March this year, up from 1.1 percent in February, according to a report released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In March 2017, the annual inflation rate was 1.5 percent.
Meanwhile, in the European Union (EU-28) annual inflation was 1.5 percent in March, up from 1.4 percent in February. In March 2017, the annual inflation rate in the EU-28 was 1.6 percent.
The lowest inflation rates in March this year were observed in Cyprus (-0.4%), Greece (0.2%) and Denmark (0.4%) whereas the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (4%), Estonia (2.9%) and Slovakia and Lithuania (both 2.5%). Compared with February, annual inflation fell in six member states, remained stable in six and rose in 15.
