Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), a subsidiary of Ukrainian steel producer Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), is going to decrease production by 25 percent due to planned repair of a number of equipment items including the blast furnace No. 2, general director of DMKD Maksim Zavgorodniy told Ukrainian media.

Repair of the blast furnace is expected to take 54 days. Furthermore, the repair of the sintering machine No. 12 and the ladle-furnace and both repair and reconstruction of the continuous casting machine No. 1, which produces round billets of 130-210 mm diameter, is also planned.

“We are not going to have a positive financial result during two months as we are going to use only 75 percent of our capacity. Besides, the market is in a state of depression. Billets to be produced on the continuous caster No. 2 will cost $20-25 more than the billets produced on the continuous caster No. 1.” Mr. Zavgorodniy added.
