Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) expects improved domestic sales in 2018, according to a media report from Valor.
Luis Fernando Martinez, commercial and logistics director at CSN, said the company expects to increase domestic sales by 9 percent in Brazil in 2018, year-on-year.
“This year is the turning point for the local steel industry, and CSN wants to take advantage of it,” he said in Valor’s report.
Martinez said the improved outlook is due to a number of factors, including increased production at the local automotive sector, as well as better prospects for the nation’s appliance, machine, equipment, and steel packaging sectors.
CSN expects to sell 275,000 mt of long steel products this year, 19 percent up from 230,000 mt in 2017.
