Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), has suggested that Chinese cities with fewer than 4 million cars lift restrictions on car purchases in order to stimulate vehicle consumption.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai municipal government has announced that it will continue to implement the replacement subsidy for new energy vehicle purchases. Accordingly, individual consumers who scrap or transfer mall vehicles registered in Shanghai and meet the relevant standards, and then purchase pure electric vehicles will be given a financial subsidy of RMB 10,000 ($1,437) per vehicle before June 30 this year.
