Ukraine-headquartered Metinvest, an international group of companies working in the mining and metals sector, and Air Liquide, a French multinational company which is the leading industrial gases producer worldwide, have announced the start of construction of an air separation unit for Metinvest subsidiary Yenakiievo Iron and Steel Works (EMZ).

On October 18, Air Liquide started construction of the air separation unit ASU-1400 for Metinvest’s Yenakiievo Iron and Steel Works (EMZ). The construction of the unit is being carried out under the long-term process gases supply contract signed between Metinvest and Air Liquide in 2011.

Metinvest will invest around €30 million in the project, while Air Liquide’s investment of €100 million will be financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The unit’s production capacity is 1,700 mt of oxygen, nitrogen and argon per day. The ASU-1400 will provide industrial gases to EMZ and other enterprises in Ukraine.
