Colombian iron and steel export volume down 20.5 percent in Jan-Apr

In the January-April period this year, Colombia exported 36,020 mt of ferronickel, down 30.2 percent, with a value of $130.88 million, falling by 27.2 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In April, Colombian ferronickel exports amounted to 11,841 mt, declining by 30.7 percent, and were worth $40.8 million, decreasing by 32.2 percent, both year on year.

In the first four months of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 59,247 mt, falling by 20.5 percent, with a value of $175.34 million, down by 21.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In April, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 14,257 mt, decreasing by 32.1 percent, and were worth $44.05 million, declining by 38.5 percent, both compared to the same month of 2019.
