Russian pipe producer Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) will supply steel pipes for the Bovanenkovo-Uhta gas pipeline project. The project, implemented by Gazprom since 2008, is designed to supply the Nord Stream gas pipeline with natural gas. The pipeline length will be over 2,400 km. ChTPZ has an annual capacity of about 400,000 mt of large diameter pipes.
Last week, specialists of Gasprom tested ChTPZ's large diameters pipes made from flat steel of strength grade К65 (Х80) produced by MMK and Severstal. Accordingly, Gazprom has approved pipes with diameter of 1,420 mm and with wall thicknesses of 23.0 mm and 27.7 mm produced at the Vysota 239 pipe electric-welding workshop of Chelyabinsk Tube-Rolling Plant. At present, ChTPZ is preparing for testing of pipes made from sheets with other wall thicknesses produced by MMK and Severstal, as well as pipes made by sheets from other foreign companies, namely, Dillingen (Germany) and Sumitomo Corporation (Japan).
In September this year, ChTPZ plans to supply around 20,000 mt of large diameter pipes for the Bovanenkovo-Uhta project.
