One of the largest Russian pipe producers, Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ), a part of ChTPZ group has announced that it has started pre-commissioning preparations at its new pipe electric-welding workshop for the production of large diameter single-weld pipes and has already carried out the first welding of seams on trial pipes.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, the new 600,000 mt capacity pipe electric-welding workshop, which will primarily use plates produced at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works' (MMK) new plate rolling mill 5000, is to be commissioned on July 17, i.e., on Metallurgist's Day in Russia.

The capacity of the first stage of the workshop will be up to 180 large-diameter pipes per shift.
