Russia-based steel pipe producer ChTPZ Group has stated that it is going to be the only supplier of large diameter (LD) pipes for the construction of a football stadium in the city of Samara. The stadium in question will be necessary for the holding of the football World Cup in 2018.

Under the terms of the contract, the plant will supply 6,700 mt of LD pipes to Kurganstalmost (the manufacturer of metal frames for the stadium) in January and February this year. The supply will comprise a variety of LD pipes in a diameter range of 530-1,220 mm, with wall widths of 12-40mm, made of K60 steel. 1,500 mt of LD pipes have already been delivered to the customer.

The stadium in Samara must be ready in time for the World Cup. Its area is estimated at 153,000 m2, with seats for 45,000 supporters. The structure will have the shape of a dome, with a height of 60 m. The stadium is expected to be commissioned in 2017.

ChTPZ Group and Kurganstalmost have already worked together to supply goods for the construction of sports facilities, for example, delivering products to the construction site of Moscow-based Spartak Stadium and to a skating ring facility in Sochi.
