Russia-based steel pipe producer ChTPZ Group has stated that it has mastered the production of a new, highly-profitable product: first-generation H2S-proof oil country tubular goods (OCTG) with premium ChT-Vt threads of the company's own design. This is actually part of the company's import replacement program. These OCTGs can be used for development of oil wells within highly corrosive environments, that is, with increased H2S and CO2 content.
The OCTGs in question have a diameter of 73 mm and wall witdth of 5.5 mm. Providing these pipes with special ducts with VAGT-ChT-Vt threaded joints for connecting a pipe column to the oil well equipment is an additional challenge to be met. Unitech is now ChTPZ Group's partner in the project for the production of the necessary ducts. The results of recent tests indicate that the maintenance characteristics of these pipes and ducts are fully comparable with those of their foreign counterparts.
