China’s steel bar imports up 2.0 percent in January-November

In November this year, China’s import volumes of steel bars and steel pipes/hollow profiles amounted to 100,000 mt and 40,000 mt, down 3.9 percent and 12.4 percent year on year, while its import volumes of steel plate and angles/channels totaled 0.95 million mt and 30,000 mt, up 3.6 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively, year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.

In the January-November period of the current year, China’s import volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, and steel pipes/hollow profiles amounted to 1.11 million mt, 380,000 mt and 360,000 mt, up 2.0 percent, 4.2 percent and 19.4 percent, respectively, year on year, while its steel plate imports amounted to 10.05 million mt, down 0.3 percent year on year.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in November this year China imported 1.14 million mt of finished steel, down 20.0 percent month on month and increasing by 2.7 percent year on year. In the January-November period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 12.10 million mt, rising by 0.6 percent year on year.
