China’s shipbuilding output volume rises 54.6 percent in 2010

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information technology (MIIT), China's shipbuilding orders completed in 2010 reached a volume of 65.6 million dead weight tons (dwt), up 54.6 percent year on year. while the country's volume of new ship orders received during the year amounted to 75.23 million dwt, up 2.9 times year on year.

As of the end of December 2010, the volume of all shipbuilding orders (including news orders received in 2010) on which work was continuing in China indicated a 4.1 year-on-year increase to 195.9 million dwt.
