In the January-June period this year, China’s iron ore production amounted to 476.759 million mt, increasing by 5.7 percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In June alone, China’s iron ore production totaled 85.155 million mt, increasing by 1.8 percent year on year, while rising by 9.74 percent month on month.

Import iron ore prices had moved up first in June, while fluctuating within a limited range in the remainder of the month. The improved profitability on the steelmakers’ side and the increasing trend of iron ore futures prices bolstered iron ore prices in June.
