China’s HRC production in October down 7.7 percent from September

In October this year, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production lost 7.7 percent month on month and came to 12.153 million mt, seeing a 3.3 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

Average local HRC prices in China fell by 3.1 percent or RMB 115/mt ($27/mt) over the month in question, according to the SteelOrbis data.

In the January-October period, Chinese HRC production amounted to 126.309 million mt, up 10.1 percent year on year, with this growth 0.8 percentage points lower than that recorded in January-September.

At the same time, cold rolled coil (CRC) production in China lost 4.7 percent month on month to 2.758 million mt in October. Chinese auto production decreased by 1.7 percent year on year in October, with the month-on-month growth 7.1 percentage points lower than in September, exerting a negative impact on CRC output.
