China’s HRC output up slightly in Sept, CRC output shows bigger rise

In September this year, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production increased by 0.33 percent month on month to 13.167 million mt, up 13.1 percent from the same month last year. Average local HRC prices in China fell by 2.5 percent or RMB 90/mt ($27/mt) during the month in question, according to SteelOrbis’ data.

In the January-September period, Chinese HRC production amounted to 114.183 million mt, up 10.9 percent year on year, with this increase rate 0.3 percentage points lower than that recorded in the January-August period.

Meanwhile, cold rolled coil (CRC) production in China improved sharply in September, rising by 6.75 percent month on month to 2.895 million mt. Chinese auto production increased by 11.0 percent month on month in September, exerting a positive impact on domestic CRC output.
