China’s HRC output up nine percent in January-June

In the January-June period this year, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production amounted to 100.79 million mt, up nine percent year on year, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In the same period, China’s cold rolled coil (CRC) production totaled 17.767 million mt, down 4.0 percent year on year.

In June alone, China’s hot rolled coil (HRC) production and cold rolled coil (CRC) production totaled 17.711 million mt and 3.465 million mt, up 12.9 percent and 3.0 percent year on year, while decreasing by 0.93 percent and increasing by 2.51 percent month on month, respectively.   

HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market moved up in June amid the increasing trend of HRC futures prices, with the highest level in June at RMB 3,945/mt ($552/mt) seen on June 16, and the lowest level in the month at RMB 3,765/mt ($527/mt) seen on June 1.
