China’s finished steel exports up 89.6 percent in December

In December last year, China exported 10.17 million mt of finished steel, up 89.6 percent year on year, according to monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. In the whole of last year, China exported 93.78 million mt of finished steel, up 50.5 percent year on year.

In particular, in December China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 3.77 million mt, 0.49 million mt, 0.21 million mt and 4.43 million mt, up 151.2 percent, 39.5 percent, 29.7 percent and 83.7 percent, respectively, year on year. In the whole of 2014, China’s export volumes of steel bars, angles/channels, wire rod and steel plate amounted to 30.87 million mt, 4.75 million mt, 2.16million mt and 43.67 million mt, up 80.5 percent, 12.3 percent, 17.3 percent and 58.0 percent year on year, respectively.
