Cherepovets Steel Mill installs new loading crane at its converter plant

Cherepovets Steel Mill, a subsidiary of Russian steelmaker Severstal, has started installation of a new loading crane No. 8 at its converter plant, worth Ruble 800 million ($28.5 million). The new crane's load-carrying ability is 520 mt, 70 mt more than the old one which has been in operation since 1980.

Two cranes with the same weight-carrying ability were installed at the converter plant in 2009 and 2010. The supplier of the new crane, as well as of the two installed cranes, is Russian machine building company Uralmash. The new third loading crane will be put into operation in late 2011/early 2012.
