Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 11, the US rotary rig count remained level at 1,075 rigs following an eight-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 202, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by four to 873. The overall rig count is now up by 136 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count surged up by 108 to 184 rigs in the week ending January 11, following a six-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 92 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
