Canadian iron ore shipments up 8.4 percent in September

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in September 2018 totaled 7,311,181 mt, an 8.4 percent increase from August and a 91.4 percent increase from September 2017. Of that total, 343,570 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 6,967,611 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments through September totaled 38,161,129 mt, up 16.9 percent from the same period of 2017.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of September totaled 8,222,684 mt, down 20.9 percent from August levels but up 177.5 percent from levels in September 2017.
