Canadian iron ore shipments up 8.4 percent in March

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in March 2018 totaled 4,393,855 mt, an 8.4 percent increase from February and a 9.2 percent increase from March 2017. Of that total, 249,489 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 4,144,366 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments through March totaled 11,116,068 mt, up 3.3 percent from the same three-month period of 2017.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of March totaled 3,593,001 mt, up 1.8 percent from February levels and up 5.3 percent from levels in March 2017.
