Canadian iron ore shipments up 2.7 percent in April

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in April 2018 totaled 3,393,693 mt, a 2.7 percent increase from March but a 0.8 percent decrease from April 2017. Of that total, 285,394 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 3,108,299 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments through April totaled 12,957,619 mt, down 8.6 percent from the same four-month period of 2017.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of April totaled 5,966,530 mt, down 5.7 percent from March levels but up 68.3 percent from levels in April 2017.
