Canadian iron ore shipments trend neutral in August

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in August 2019 totaled 5,522,290 mt, a negligible 0.02 percent increase from July but an 11.6 percent decrease from August 2018. Of that total, 282,026 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 5,240,264 mt was exported.

Year-to-date, Canadian iron ore shipments totaled 34,912,876 mt as of August, up 16.1 percent from the same eight-month period of 2018.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of August totaled 6,154,432 mt, down 4.9 percent from July levels and down 2.1 percent from levels in August 2018.
