Canadian iron ore shipments fall 42.3 percent in January

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in January 2018 totaled 2,439,598 mt, a 42.3 percent decrease from December and a 33.3 percent decrease from January 2017. Of that total, 237,912 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 2,201,686 mt was exported.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of January totaled 3,184,723 mt, up 28.1 percent from December and up 0.9 percent from January 2017.
