Canadian iron ore shipments down 6 percent in April

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in April 2019 totaled 4,136,570 mt, a 6.0 percent decrease from March and a 21.9 percent increase from April 2018. Of that total, 416,083 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 3,720,487 mt was exported.

Year-to-date, Canadian iron ore shipments totaled 14,663,630 mt, up 13.2 percent from the same four-month period of 2018.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of April totaled 7,705,517 mt, up 3.4 percent from March levels and up 30.0 percent from levels in April 2018.
