Canadian iron ore shipments down 20.4 percent in September

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in September 2019 totaled 4,502,652 mt, a 20.4 percent decrease from August and a 35.9 percent decrease from September 2018. Of that total, 440,376 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 4,062,276 mt was exported.

Year-to-date, Canadian iron ore shipments totaled 39,752,109 mt as of September, up 7.2 percent from the same nine-month period of 2018.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of September totaled 5,866,398 mt, down 5.0 percent from August levels but up 46.8 percent from levels in September 2018.
