Canada starts AD probe on carbon steel welded pipe from Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced that it has initiated an antidumping (AD) duty investigation on imports of certain carbon steel welded pipe from Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam. The CBSA is expected to make a preliminary decision by October 18, 2018.

The investigation was launched upon the complaint filed by Canada-based steel producer Novamerican Steel Inc, alleging that, as a result of price undercutting from Pakistan, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam, Canadian industry faces price suppression, lost sales, reduced profitability, reduced production and under-utilization of capacity.

The products in question currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7306.30.00.10, 7306.30.00.20 and 7306.30.00.30.
