Canadian finance minister Chrystia Freeland has stated that imports of all Russian steel and aluminum products into Canada have been banned to cut off or limit the revenue used to fund Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The ban covers both finished and unfinished products, including steel pipes, SteelOrbis understands.

Meanwhile, in February the US increased tariffs on certain steel products to 70 percent effective as of April 1, 2023, while it imposed a 200 percent tariff on imports of Russian aluminum as of March 10, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
