CAAM: China's auto vehicle sales up eight percent in January-August

In the January-August period this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 18.225 million units and 18.21 million units, increasing by 7.4 percent and 8.0 percent year on year, respectively, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

In the January-August period this year, production and sales of passenger vehicles reached 15.672 million units and 15.643 million units, up 5.9 percent and 6.7 percent year on year, respectively.   

In the January-August period this year, production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 2.553 million units and 2.568 million units, up 18 percent and 16.4 percent year on year, respectively.   

In the first eight months, production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) totaled 5.434 million units and 5.374 million units, up 36.9 percent and 39.2 percent year on year, respectively, with the market share reaching 29.5 percent in the given period.     

In the first eight months this year, China’s vehicle export volume totaled 2.941 million units, up 61.9 percent year on year.    

In August alone, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 2.575 million units and 2.582 million units, up 7.2 percent and 8.2 percent month on month, while up 7.5 percent and 8.4 percent year on year, respectively.    

In August, production and sales of passenger vehicles totaled 2.275 million units and 2.273 million units, up 7.5 percent and 8.2 percent month on month, while up 5.4 percent and 6.9 percent year on year, respectively.   

In August, production and sales of commercial vehicles totaled 300,000 units and 310,000 units, up 5.0 percent and 7.9 percent month on month, while rising by 26.2 percent and 20.0 percent year on year, respectively.   

In the given month, production and sales of NEVs amounted to 843,000 units and 846,000 units, up 4.7 percent and 8.5 percent month on month, while up 22 percent and 27 percent year on year, respectively, with the market share reaching 32.8 percent in the given month.    

In addition, in August, China’s vehicle export volume amounted to 408,000 units, up 3.9 percent month on month, while increasing by 32.1 percent year on year.    

According to CAAM, China has issued several stimulus policies to boost vehicle consumption, which will exert a positive impact on the auto industry in the near future.
