Brazil's finished steel trade deficit fell by volume but rose in value in December

According to SECEX, Brazil's foreign trade authority, Brazil exported in December 156,937 mt of finished carbon steel products, priced at $98.638 million, while importing 237,983 mt at $172.290 million.

This compares to Brazil exporting 209,929 mt at $152,867 million and importing 323,843 mt worth $220.651 million in November.

The numbers for December indicate a commercial deficit in volume amounting to 81,046 mt against an also deficit of 113,913 mt in November.

In terms of USD value, there was a deficit of $72.651 million in December, against a deficit of $67.783 million in November.

In volume, the main items exported in December were HRC (52 percent), wire rod (20 percent), and rebars (14 percent).

The main items imported in December were coated flat products (50 percent), HRC (22 percent), CRC (8 percent), and steel wire (8 percent).
