Brazilian slabs exports in April reached 687,500 mt, against 297,600 mt in March, an increase of 131 percent versus March export levels, according to data from Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade.
The monthly increase points to higher trade between Brazil, the US, and Europe as main factors behind the rise.
Ternium exported 222,800 mt at $605/mt to the US, while ArcelorMittal Tubarão shipped 169,500 mt at $569/mt to the US, 71,500 mt at $492/mt to France, and 37,800 mt at $505/mt to Spain.
ArcelorMittal Pecem exported 40,800 mt at $491/mt to Belgium, 39,800 mt at $500/mt to Spain, 39,500 mt at $469/mt to Poland, 30,300 mt at $515/mt to Germany, and 10,300 mt at $522/mt to Mexico and 10,100 mt at $584/mt to the UK.
For its turn, Gerdau exported 15,100 mt at $520/mt to Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Usiminas imported 27,400 mt of slabs at $468/mt from Vietnam.
