Brazilian pig iron exports increase in May

Brazilian exports of pig iron have reached 419,200 mt in May, against 212,900 mt in April, according to customs data.

The main destinations in May were the US (252,200 mt at $492/mt), the Netherlands (64,700 mt at $518/mt), Turkey (54,800 mt at $483/mt), and Asia (15,400 mt at 510/mt), all FOB conditions.

The shipments were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo (335,200 mt at $498/mt), Para and Maranhão, in the north (48,200 mt at $504/mt) and Mato Grosso do Sul, in the central western region (35,800 mt at $477/mt), all FOB conditions.
