Brazilian pig iron exports decline in June

Brazilian exports of pig iron reached 247,500 mt in June, against 419,200 mt in May, according to customs data.

The decline reflects no exports from the northern states of Pará and Maranhão, against 48,200 mt in May, and lower exports to Europe and Asia.

The main destinations in June were the US (207,100 mt at $506/mt), Argentina (22,600 mt at $477/mt), Canada (8,800 mt at $487/mt) the Netherlands (5,000 mt at $580/mt), and Asia (3,500 mt at 571/mt), all FOB conditions.

The shipments were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo (216,500 mt at $509/mt), and Mato Grosso do Sul, in the central western region (31,000 mt at $475/mt).
