Brazilian exports of pig iron reached 427,100 mt in August, against 379,000 mt in July, according to customs data.
The main destinations in July were the US (367,400 mt at $445/mt), the Netherlands (55,400 mt at $477/mt), Asia (3,300 mt at $459/mt), Australia (600 mt at $516/mt), and South America (400 mt at $611/mt), all FOB conditions.
The shipments were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo (267,100 mt at $444/mt), Pará and Maranhão, in the north (112,500 mt at $474/mt) and Mato Grosso do Sul, in the central western region (47,500 mt at $422/mt).
During the first eight months of 2023, Brazil exported a total of 2.56 million mt of pig iron, against 2.43 million mt during the same period of 2022.
