Brazilian pig iron exports decline in February

Brazilian exports of pig iron reached 207,800 mt in February, against 236,200 mt in January, according to customs data.

The shipments in February were destined to the US (137,200 mt at $454/mt), Europe (31,500 mt at $512/mt), Asia (20,600 mt at $526/mt) and Mexico (18,000 mt at $448/mt), all FOB conditions and price deals probably closed in December. Smaller volumes were shipped to Argentina and South Africa.

With the exception of 32,300 mt at $462/mt, shipped by a producer in the northern state of Para to a client in the US, the shipments of February were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo.
