Brazilian civil construction activity declines in May

Civil construction activity in Brazil declined to 37.1 points in May this year from 46.9 points in May 2019, in a scale from zero to 100 in which values above 50 indicate growth, according to the confederation of industries (CNI).

CNI said civil construction activity in May rose from 29.4 points in April this year. The capacity utilization of the local civil construction segment in May decreased to 53 percent, down from 56 percent in May 2019, but slightly up from 50 percent in April this year.

The indicator that measures the number of job positions in the sector in May dropped to 37.5 points, from 45 points in May 2019, and from 34.7 points in April this year.
