Argentinian apparent steel consumption (ASC) should grow 9 percent, year-on-year, in 2018, according to a Ternium estimate.

Last year, the nation’s ASC reached 4.9 million mt for both flats, longs and tubes, according to data from the nation’s steel association, the Argentinian Steel Chamber (CAA).

Ternium CEO Maximo Vedoya said during a conference call with analysts the ASC growth expectation for Argentina is positive.

“The good news is that GDP will be positive for the second year in a row, and probably the same will happen next year (2019). The sustainable growth we expect in Argentina in the following years is something that has not happened for a while in that country,” said Vedoya.
