Argentinian industrial output falls in April

Argentinian industrial output in April 33.5 percent, year-on-year, according to a report from local statistics agency, Indec.

Industrial production in April at the Argentinian automotive segment, which includes the nation’s auto parts and automotive sectors, plummeted 88.5 percent, year-on-year, as automakers halted production due to Covid-19. Several automakers including Volkswagen resumed activities in May.

According to an Indec qualitative survey, which measured the expectancies of the industrial segment for the May-July period, on a year-on-year basis, 75.5 percent forecast a decline in domestic demand. Another 15.8 percent expect domestic demand in the May-July period to remain stable, while 8.7 percent anticipate domestic demand will actually improve.

Out of the interviewed exporting companies, 66.1 percent said exports in the May-July period will decline. Another 25.2 percent said exports will remain stable, and 8.7 percent expect an increase in exports in the period.
