Argentinian crude steel production declines 8.4 percent in December

Argentinian crude steel output in December decreased 8.4 percent, year-on-year, to 326,200 mt, according to a report Wednesday from local steel association, the Argentinian Steel Chamber or Camara Argentina del Acero (CAA).

Local steel production in December fell 8.8 percent, month-on-month, from 357,500 mt in November. Argentinian hot rolled finished steel output in the last month of the year reached 298,200 mt, 5.2 percent up, year-on-year, but 11.1 percent down, month-on-month. Argentinian cold rolled flat steel production in December increased 2.5 percent, year-on-year, but dropped 7.8 percent, month-on-month, to 92,000 mt.

As for the full year of 2019, Argentinian crude steel production totaled 4.64 million mt, 10 percent down, year-on-year. Argentinian hot rolled finished steel output in the full year of 2019 was 4.26 million mt, 10.5 percent down, year-on-year. Following the same downtrend, Argentinian cold rolled flat steel production in 2019 declined 8.5 percent, year-on-year, to 1.15 million mt.
