Argentinian crude steel output declines again in May

The Argentinian steel industry saw output decline once again in May for all key products on a year-on-year basis. The Argentinian Steel Chamber (CAA) said crude steel output in May fell 52.2 percent, year-on-year, but rose 81.4 percent, month-on-month, to 194,300 mt, indicating a slight recovery during Covid-19.

Argentinian hot rolled finished steel production in May fell 55.5 percent, year-on-year, but grew 74.2 percent, month-on-month, to 190,200 mt. Cold rolled flat steel output in May dropped 49.5 percent, year-on-year, but increased 47.8 percent, month-on-month, to 54,300 mt

As for the accumulated period from January to May this year, Argentinian crude steel output reached 1.22 million mt, 35.5 percent down, year-on-year.

Hot rolled finished steel production in the January-May period was 1.09 million mt, 36.5 percent down, year-on-year. Cold rolled flat steel output in the January-May period diminished 12.7 percent, year-on-year, to 375,100 mt.
