Argentinian industrial output in July dropped 5.7 percent, month-on-month, according to data released this week by local statistics agency Indec.
July’s month-on-month decline represents the country’s third consecutive decrease in industrial production. Indec said industrial output in the local automotive sector in July rose 12.9 percent, year-on-year. On the other hand, industrial production in the local metal mechanic sector in July decreased 11.9 percent, year-on-year.
According to Indec’s qualitative survey, which measured the expectancies of the country’s industrial companies for the August-October period, on a year-on-year basis, 44.1 percent expect a stable pace for domestic demand. Additionally, another 11.1 percent forecast an increase, while 44.8 percent anticipate a decline.
Out of the interviewed exporting companies, 51 percent expect a stable August-October period for exports, also on a year-on-year basis. On the other hand, 31.3 percent foresee an increase, while 17.7 percent anticipate a decline in exports in the same period.
