Argentinian crude steel output in May rose 4 percent year-on-year, and 7.3 percent month-on-month, to 394,100 mt, the country’s steel association, Camara Argentina del Acero (CAA), said on Tuesday. Argentinian crude steel production in the first five months of the year totaled 1.7 million mt, up 3.9 percent year-on-year.
The country’s hot rolled finished steel production in May rose 8.3 percent, year-on-year, and 8.3 percent, month-on-month, to 414,100 mt. As for the accumulated period of January to May, local hot rolled finished steel output grew 6.5 percent, year-on-year, to 1.8 million mt.
CAA said cold rolled flat steel output in May was 108,200 mt, 2 percent down, year-on-year, and 1.7 percent down, month-on-month. As for January-May period, cold rolled flat steel production dropped 14.1 percent, year-on-year, to 523,300 mt, CAA said.
